T he
Resident Services Center at Valley Village promotes the health and
well-being of the residents. We have licensed nurses, emergency medical
technicians, and other medically trained staff who provide services to
enhance self-reliance. Both residential and clinic services are provided.
Residential
Services
These
include
emergency response to apartments and grounds as well as routine
services in the Resident Services Center. The Resident Services Center
is staffed 24 hours a day by nurses, emergency medical technicians and
other medically trained staff, certified in first aid, CPR and the
Heimlich maneuver.
The care of each resident is defined by the
optional health care they receive from their physician. There is an
emergency sheet in each resident's medical folder, which is updated
annually.
Routine
"walk-in"
services include blood pressure, weight and first aid.
Follow-up house calls for residents who have been ill are made by the
nurses and emergency medical technicians on occasion to be sure they
are doing well.
Clinic Services
The Valley Village Primary Care Clinic is
open from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., Monday to Friday. It is licensed by the
State of California. This is a nurse driven facility under the
supervision of a Medical Director. Short term care is provided by the
Clinic with ongoing and preventative care continuing with resident's
primary care providers.
Clinic services include: preparation of
insulin for self administration, immunization and simple suture
removal, health education and limited administration of medication.
There
is
no overnight care. The nurses and emergency medical technicians can
refer residents to organizations often paid by Medicare, that can
provide services in your apartment.
Books,
video
tapes and health articles are available free of charge in the
Resident Services Center. The Resident Services Center offers programs
on medical topics several times throughout the year, and health
articles are published in the "Village Voice:" newsletter.
